Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 July 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how SweeTales (sweetales.life), a personal blog operated by Wen, collects, uses, and protects personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA) of Singapore. By using this website or submitting the contact form, you acknowledge the practices described here.

Who is responsible for your data

The data controller for this site is Wen, reachable at [email protected] or Blk 334 Kreta Ayer Road, #05-42, Singapore 080334. SweeTales is a personal blog, not a company. There is no separate legal entity, data protection officer, or third-party marketing team behind these pages.

What personal data we collect

Contact form. When you use the "Say hello" form, we collect your name, email address, and message content. We also require a PDPA consent checkbox, which is not pre-ticked. Submission timestamps are recorded in Asia/Singapore time when the form is processed.

Cookies and local storage. We use essential cookies to operate basic site functions. Optional analytics cookies are only activated if you accept them via the cookie banner. Your cookie preference is stored in your browser's local storage for up to six months, after which the banner will ask again.

Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically collect technical data such as IP address, browser type, referring page, and access time. We do not combine server logs with contact form data for profiling.

How we use your data

Contact form data is used solely to read and reply to your message. We do not add you to mailing lists, sell your details, or share them with advertisers. If you write to correct a factual error in a blog post, we may keep a copy of the correspondence to document the correction.

Cookie preferences are used to remember whether you accepted or rejected optional analytics. Analytics, if enabled, help us understand aggregate traffic patterns — pages viewed, approximate geography, device type — without identifying you by name.

Legal basis and consent

Under the PDPA, we rely on your consent for contact form submissions and optional analytics cookies. Essential cookies are used based on legitimate interest in providing a functional website. You may withdraw consent for optional analytics at any time by clearing site data in your browser or clicking "Customise" in the cookie banner if it reappears after six months.

Retention

Contact form emails are retained only as long as needed to respond and maintain a reasonable record of correspondence — typically no longer than twenty-four months unless a longer period is required to resolve an ongoing issue. Cookie consent records expire after six months. Server logs follow our hosting provider's default retention schedule.

Sharing and transfers

We do not sell or rent personal data. Form submissions are emailed to the site operator's designated inbox ([email protected]) for delivery purposes. Email transit may involve processors outside Singapore; where that occurs, we expect comparable protection standards. We do not otherwise transfer data overseas for marketing.

Security

This is a small static site with one form handler. We use a honeypot field to reduce spam bots. HTTPS should be enabled on the live server so data in transit is encrypted. No system is perfectly secure; please do not send sensitive identifiers (NRIC, bank details, medical records) through the contact form.

Your rights under the PDPA

You may request access to, correction of, or withdrawal of consent for personal data we hold about you. You may also ask how your data has been used or disclosed. To make a request, email [email protected] with enough detail for us to locate your record. We will respond within a reasonable period as required by law.

Cookies in detail

Essential. Required for remembering cookie choices and basic navigation. These cannot be disabled without breaking consent memory.

Analytics (optional). If you accept, anonymous usage statistics may be collected to understand readership. If you reject, no analytics cookies are set.

The cookie banner offers Accept, Reject, and Customise options. Rejecting analytics does not block access to any page content.

Third-party links

Posts may mention external places (MRT stations, food centres) without linking to them. If we link outward in future, those sites have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their practices.

Children

SweeTales is written for a general audience and is not directed at children under thirteen. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal data via the contact form, please notify us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page when practices change or when required by law. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect revisions. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy for non-essential processing where consent applies.

Personal blog disclaimer

This is a personal blog. Everything here is written by me and reflects my own experiences, opinions and memories at the time of writing. Posts are personal reflections and are not professional, medical, legal, financial or fitness advice. Places and everyday moments are described from my own point of view; I don't name or speak for anyone else, and I try to write about my neighbourhood kindly and honestly.
